Duties

This position is located in the Coast Guard, Finance Center (FINCEN) Chesapeake, VA.  The position's primary purpose is to serve as Command Administrator and the principal office clerical and administrative support position for the FINCEN.

Qualifications

At the GS-8 level, the candidate must posses one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience include: Provides assistance and advice to departments and administrative staff elements regarding protocol, social functions, and official visits. Provides protocol support and coordination for FINCEN functions such as Change of Command and other formal ceremonies. Provides support in areas of lodging, transportation, socials, guest lists, menus, seating arrangements, billing and collection procedures, gifts/mementos, and information packets and the appropriate flags as required. Coordinates detailed plans, itineraries, and distributes to appropriate personnel. Coordinates with Headquarters and other units staff to facilitate overall scheduling of tasks associated with visits.  National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
