Duties
In-Office Requirement:
The U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General values collaboration, teamwork, and effective communication to foster our dynamic working and learning environment. The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General Communications team has an opportunity for you! We're looking for an analyst to assist Communications and Government Relations with internal and external communications. We want a team player who is willing to learn and able to work in our Arlington, VA, headquarters.

Your work on our team is important because what we do reaches not only a 950+ geographically dispersed OIG staff, but also an external audience that includes Congress, USPS executives, employees, the general public, and members of the shipping/logistics industry.
You will work closely with the Communications team's writers/editors and graphic designers and the Government Relations team to support creating communications for our audiences. The position comes with a wide range of responsibilities, including researching and gathering information; assisting with congressional correspondence; editing and producing daily and weekly agency-wide publications; publishing content to our intranet and internet; monitoring blog and social media engagement and analytics; writing, editing, and creating PowerPoint presentations; assisting with employee engagement programs; and other duties as assigned.
Candidates will be evaluated on the skills that they possess that are directly related to the duties of the position and the experience, education and training that indicate the applicant's ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. The USPS OIG uses a Pay Banding system, which is equivalent to the Federal GS scale. Grade and salary determinations will be made based upon a candidate's education and professional experience.
This position is being advertised at the Journey Band level, equivalent to a GS-9. The salary range for this position is $68,405.00 - $88,926.00. The salary figures include locality pay. Promotion potential to a GS-13 equivalent is at management's discretion.

The individual selected will perform a wide range of duties to support the Communications and Government Relations teams, including, but not limited to:
Coordinating, editing, writing, and producing content, internal newsletters, and messaging to OIG staff.
Creating PowerPoint presentations.
Drafting and editing intranet posts and announcements.
Maintaining and managing our intranet by posting regularly and working with colleagues to update SharePoint sites and pages.
Distributing announcements regarding OIG reports to stakeholders, Postal Service executives, and Congress (as directed).
Assisting in employee engagement programs.
Research and information gathering.
Assisting with congressional correspondence.
Providing assistance to the Communications and Government Relations staff.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be able to pass a drug screening and medical assessment questionnaire.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Moderate Background Investigation security clearance.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government-issued credit card.
- May be required to successfully complete a 12-month probationary period.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
You must meet ALL of the minimum qualifications listed below.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or to be awarded no later than May 2024 in communications, journalism, political science, or similar field of study.
AND
Must have at least one year of experience working in an office environment.
EVALUATION FACTORS
You must have the experience, knowledge and skills as listed in EACH of the evaluation factors. Failure to demonstrate that you meet all of the evaluation factor requirements as listed below will result in a score of zero (0); an ineligible status, and you will not be referred for further consideration. Include your major accomplishments relevant to the position requirements in your resume.
Demonstrates written and oral communications skills, including detail-oriented editing and proofreading.
Experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrates professionalism, strong organization skills, and the ability to problem solve.
You will no longer be considered for this position if you receive a zero (0) rating on any evaluation factor.
Failure to demonstrate that you meet all evaluation factor requirements will result in a score of zero (0). Upon receipt of a zero score, you will be deemed "not minimally qualified," and you will not be referred for further consideration.
