A housing subsidy of up to $776 per pay period without dependents or $936 per pay period with dependents may be available. Recruitment, Relocation and Retention incentive may also be available. This position serves as the Patient Safety/Risk Manager for Crow Service Unit (CSU) including two satellite clinics and is responsible for the development, administration, evaluation and documentation of all risk management and patient safety activities for Crow Service Unit including off site clinics.

Duties

The position is located within the Quality Management Department and is under the direct supervision of the Quality Manager. The division's primary responsibilities include maintaining The Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services readiness and compliance with various organizations including Occupational Health and Safety, Food and Drug Administration and works closely at times with DHHS Office of General Counsel. Provide Safety Assessments by leading initiatives to create an exceptional culture of safety throughout CSU. Responsible for coordinating patient safety protocols and providing education to the staff about new procedures. Regular assessments of patient safety and the efficiency of the staff. Implements and evaluates the effectiveness of the patient safety plan through monitoring, addressing and reporting documented incidents and key performance indicators with follow up actions through ISTAR. Conduct risk-management training and risk analyses to determine potential risks. Collaborates with the facility team to adhere to applicable federal, state, local regulations i.e. (The Joint Commission, EMTALA, CMS reporting, etc.)monitor and manage risks and liabilities. Ensure patient and staff safety, respond to claims of clinical malpractice, address patient complaints, and comply with federal and state regulations by review medical records for liability issues. Facilitate RCA and HFEMA activities and reporting. Collaborate with leadership to develop a Safe Organizational Culture. Responsible for making sure that the hospital or healthcare center as a whole embraces the overall culture of safety, providing regular training and retraining courses to staff. Strategic deployment of patient safety and quality principles with a focus on improving patient outcomes, reducing risks, eliminating errors, implementing best practices and national initiatives, monitoring compliance, and leading organizational change.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Nurse Series 0610 (opm.gov) In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Responsible for coordinating patient safety protocols and providing education to the staff about new procedures. Perform regular assessments of patient safety and the efficiency of the staff. Conduct risk-management training and risk analyses to determine potential risks. Ensure patient and staff safety, respond to claims of clinical malpractice, address patient complaints, and comply with federal and state regulations by review medical records for liability issues. Facilitate Root Cause Analysis and Healthcare Failure Mode and Effect Analysis activities and reporting. Responsible for making sure that the hospital or healthcare center as a whole embraces the overall culture of safety, providing regular training and retraining courses to staff. Improve patient outcomes, reducing risks, eliminating errors, implementing best practices and national initiatives, monitoring compliance, and leading organizational change. Time in Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only) Federal Employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements Merit Promotion (status) candidates must also have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
