Duties
Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Manager for a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA)Major Subordinate Command (MSC) DLA Troop Support.
Serves as the principal SOH subject matter expert to MSC leadership focused on trending, analysis and oversight related to safeguarding DLA employees, equipment and facilities.
Implements policy and processes related to establishing and executing the DLA SOH Management System following the policy established by the Agency Safety and Occupational Health Director.
Administers a comprehensive SOH (Safety and Occupational Health) program for MSC personnel and activities.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Safety and Occupational Health Manager, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Direct all major aspects of the assigned Major Subordinate Command (MSC) Safety and Occupational Health Program
Develop original concepts applicable to new or emerging DLA functions;-Implement new program materials, systems and media concepts for promotional and training programs
Plan and evaluate extensive, long-range programs and projects such as handling and storing hazardous materials and the development of an enterprise-wide program to ensure that components containing radioactive materials do not become available for unauthorized reuse
Develop schedules related to workplace safety inspections, while identifying and validating requirements for employee surveillance programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
