This position is in the Department of the Chief Program officer, AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Service). The position reports to Headquarters in Washington, DC and the incumbent may have a duty station in any of the following locations: Washington, DC; Vicksburg, MS; Vinton, IA; Aurora, CO; or Sacramento, CA.

Duties

The Selection and Placement Assistant will track and report on data in automated systems, as well as perform a variety of administrative tasks to support the recruitment and placement of National Civilian Community Corps members. Primary responsibilities include: Serving as a central point of contact for external recruiting partners regarding applicant status. Creating and updating spreadsheets, charts and emails relative to the recruitment process. Tracking applicant progress via an automated system throughout the recruitment and placement process. Sending recruitment materials to various external partners (individuals or organizations) and keeping them informed of applicant status, e.g., missed interviews, missing documents, etc. Scheduling and conducting application assessments/interviews. Analyzing data and creating reports to show trends and progress toward goals for staff, partners and other stakeholders. Preparing agendas, producing recruitment or other promotional materials, and arranging conference calls. Supporting social media initiatives such as the NCCC blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Responding to applicant calls and emails regarding the NCCC program.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen
  • A 2-year probationary period is required for new Federal employees
  • Merit Promotion applicants must submit a SF-50 to verify Status and grade
  • Must be telework ready
  • Satisfactory completion of a background investigation

Qualifications

Applicants must have 1 year of general experience (paid, unpaid, or volunteer work) comparable in scope and responsibility to the entry level of the NY-01 pay band, which would be at, or equivalent to, the GS-3 or GS-4 level in the Federal Service. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled and must include work experience performing spread sheet data entry and tracking. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Such experiencemust be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.

Education

You may also qualify based on a combination of education and experience. To qualify based on education alone, you must have successfully completed 2 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
