As a Environmental Protection Specialist in the Environmental Management Office within the Facilities, Test and Manufacturing Directorate you will be responsible for advising, managing, and performing administrative or program work relating to environmental protection programs (e.g., programs to protect or improve environmental quality, control pollution, remedy environmental damage, and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations).
Duties
Provides oversight of implemented environmental requirements such as (air, surface water, hazardous waste, CERCLA, NEPA, natural resources, cultural resources, sustainability, energy, etc.,).
Acts as a subject matter expert for all environmental compliance issues, advising organization management and representing the organization in communications with external agencies.
Complies with environmental reporting requirements and/or analyze and manage environmental records and information systems.
Advises organization officials on advance environmental stewardship and ensures that environmental statutory and regulatory compliance are met.
Supports environmental compliance enforcement which involves evaluating and ensuring compliance with environmental laws and programs through permitting, self-assessments, audits, inspections, investigation, and corrective action activities.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Coordinating and planning environmental protections programs or projects in areas which may include environmental management, hazardous material, and waste activities for large and small industrial operations;
Preparing and reviewing documents for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or other environmental laws, regulations, or policies;
Negotiating with stakeholders and interpreting guidelines to ensure maintenance activities are in compliance with environmental regulations and policies.
