This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, District Prevention, Coast Guard District Nine, Waterways Management Branch in Cleveland, OH.
Duties
The incumbent serves as the Environmental Protection Specialist for all District Waterways Management and Aids to Navigation programs. The District Area of Operations (AOR) includes sectors, Aids to Navigation (ATON) cutters, and Aids to Navigation teams. Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- The position requires a valid state driver's license.
- This position requires a Secret clearance..
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
At the GS-13 grade level: Applicants must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience includes:
Evaluating environmental programs for compliance with federal and state requirements; providing assistance to subordinate organizations regarding the management and disposal of hazardous wastes;
Conducting environmental audits and management surveys in support of various waterways programs;
Assisting in the planning and review portions of engineering projects to evaluate potential environmental problems
Serving as site assessment manager responsible for remedial activities at more complex sites and recommending appropriate remedial actions.
