This position will serve as a student trainee and will receive training in analytical methods used to develop objectively based information in support of administrative and programmatic planning, development, evaluation, and managerial decision-making. On-the-job training assignments provide a practical understanding of the organization, programs, policies, and objectives of the agency as well as furnish experience in the application of principles, procedures, and work techniques.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-9. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Student Trainee (Management and Program Analysis), you will:
-Assist the Senior Managers or Senior Analysts in identifying and analyzing areas of program performance and customer services in need of improvement; recommends solutions.
-Prepare oral and written reports and presentations, graphs and charts that present clear, concise, and effective analytical results of evaluations and research performed.
-Provide support in research and analysis of issues and matters assigned by the supervisor.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-9 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Using computer systems such as statistical and business intelligence software as well as internet resources to research, analyze, and communicate information from multiple sources in a professional and appropriate format.
OR Education: For the Pathways Internship Program, you may qualify based solely on education as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. (This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university.)
OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-7 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Using computer applications and internet resources to research, analyze, and communicate information in the appropriate format.
OR Education: For the Pathways Internship Program, you may qualify based solely on education as follows: One full year of graduate level education (This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university.)
OR Superior Academic Achievement: Based on a Bachelors degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.
OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-5 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Using computer applications such as word processing, database and spreadsheet to perform automated tasks such as entering and retrieving data into or from existing spreadsheets and producing various reports.
OR Education: For the Pathways Internship Program you may qualify based solely on education as follows: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study or a Bachelors degree. (This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.)
OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Education
Pathways Student Internship Program Education Requirement:
A. Must be a current student at an accredited high school (public or private) or in a home-school program*; college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled) pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. *Secondary home-school curricula must be recognized by the State or local government oversight agency.
B. You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program. Please review the "REQUIREMENTS" section of the vacancy announcement to ensure that you qualify to apply to this internship.
C. Every semester, you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
