As Deputy Branch Chief, Aircraft Maintenance and Quality Assurance with the Aircraft Operations Division Team, you will be responsible for process efficiency, contract evaluations, understanding NASA policies and procedures as they relate to aircraft operations and contract management, and flight crew operations. You will lead a team of highly skilled and motivated personnel in day-to-day safe operations, as well as performance and career development.
Duties
Oversee on-site Aircraft Maintenance Managers and maintenance activities on NASA aircraft, including planning and scheduling, reporting, reviewing aircraft maintenance activity findings, and determining procedures for repair or replacement.
Provide technical expertise in aircraft and aircraft systems with a strong emphasis on aircraft quality assurance, maintenance, and logistics.
Interpret and apply NASA, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Navy technical requirements and technical orders and FAA regulations pertaining to maintenance, modifications, inspections, testing, and operation of public and civil aircraft and systems.
Obtain resources and identify strategic objectives for the organization.
Define technical work requirements and milestones; evaluate the organization and employee accomplishments by accepting or rejecting work products; and present and defend the organization and employees’ work to senior management and other offices.
Provide employees resources and information that ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Use Quality Assurance Specialist (Aerospace) specialty expertise to perform work involving Acquisition, Maintenance and Manufacturing, and supply.
Review contractor production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements.
Participate in the long rang planning of NASA assets in support of Space Flight Readiness, Earth Science, and the movement of oversized cargo.
Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Requirements
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Reviewing the progress or work of contractors to ensure product quality requirements are met;
Performing technical work on aircraft and aircraft systems related to aircraft quality assurance, maintenance, and/or logistics;
Analyzing and applying technical requirements, technical orders, or FAA regulations pertaining to maintenance, modification, testing, or operation of aircraft and systems.
