About the Position: This position involves planning and coordinating, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems, and integrating technical aspects of computer work with automation administrative matters withing the 197th Infantry Brigade.

Duties

Provide briefing and updates concerning the status of all IT and automation projects and tasks withing the Brigade and Subordinate Battalions. Provide technical assistance to current and potential users regarding disruptions of computer operations. Provide support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance and training to support the organization. Apply IT concepts, principles, methods and practices sufficient to plan and carry out difficult and complex assignments.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Must complete baseline and computing environmental training and certification/re-certification as outlined in DoD Pub 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program and subsequent Army Information Assurance Training Guidance.
  • Must be able to gain and maintain requirements, certifications and credentials to receive elevated privileges. Must have SEC+ certification.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-9 grade level which includes coordinating and integrating technical aspects of computer work with automation administrative matters within the Brigade. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). AND IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when developing technologies, information systems and services (such as cloud, data access systems, etc.) and conscientious about attending to detail; 2. Customer Service - Working with government and non-government agency clients and customers to assess their technology, information systems and services (such as cloud, data access systems, etc.) needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available emergency management information systems products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively to exchange information about updates to technologies, information systems and services (such as cloud, data access systems, etc.), taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; 4. Problem Solving - Identifies technology, information systems and services (such as cloud, data access systems, etc.) problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementConfiguration ManagementProblem SolvingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
