You will serve as a Production Department Training Programs Director in the Code 900T Production Resources Training Division of the Production Resources Department of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).

Duties

You will administer work study, Helper, and Apprentice Programs, and the Southwestern Regional Apprentice Program (SWRAP) at North Island San Diego. You will interface with the Apprentice Program's educational partners to establish recruiting visits and strategies. You will partner with customers on matters pertaining to curriculum development, accreditation, Instructional Policy Committee (IPC) review, Industrial Trades Technology (INDTT) Advisory Committee Review, and Trade related Student Program scheduling You will participate in the administration of Federal, State and Educational Partner requirements, policies and practices relating to the Student Programs. You will participate in the development of complex training schedules and coordinate modifications to support workload requirements. You will solve, troubleshoot, and oversee day-to-day issues of administration of the Apprentice School Safety Policy, management of Hazardous Material (HAZMAT), receipt of services, facilities management.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Evaluating training programs to implement improvements and advise management in decision making to resolve training program and safety problems.
