This position is located in the Division of Operations-Management. The Division of Operations Management is responsible for the management of the compliance work for the Regional, Subregional and Resident Offices of the Agency. The primary purpose of this position is to provide program support essential to the direction and operations of the region, including through use of the Agency's NxGen electronic case processing system and other automated processes.

Duties

As a Compliance Support Assistant (OA), GS-1802-8, your typical work assignments may include: Researching and responding to questions from the public, discriminatees, and other parties, involving National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) procedures or relating to case status. Preparing compliance correspondence and recommendations, including recommendations to close, making sure that adequate documentation of the steps the charged party/respondent has taken to comply are properly and accurately uploaded into the electronic casefile, along with information concerning the parties positions. Attending settlement negotiations or other meetings with the public or parties to cases to take notes; preparing closing compliance reports; and ensuring all documents are properly and accurately uploaded into the Agency's electronic case file. Serving as the field office expert in the use of the Agency's electronic case processing system; creating and maintaining databases and spreadsheets for the collection of compliance related information; assisting in the analysis of backpay records; and independently completing computations in final form for Compliance Officer's approval and use in compliance negotiations. Drafting original correspondence for signature or approval of the Compliance Officer; using existing models of documents, modifying subpoenas, questionnaires, and proof of claims; and drafting questionnaires used to survey parties involved in Board cases, with minimal supervision.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT The Ideal Candidate for the Compliance Support Assistant (OA), GS-1802-08 position has experience performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties of an office. The candidate possesses analytical skills to compile and analyze various charts, tables, statistical reports, and other data of the Regional Office's operations. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both effectively orally and in writing. Experience of office automation systems and fully qualified typing skills to perform word processing duties are required. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE To qualify for this position, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the GS-08, Compliance Support Assistant (OA), and that is typically related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: Compiling data and information using automated tracking systems or computer programs; and Reviewing correspondences, reports and other documents for proper format, grammar, and punctuation; and Retrieving, gathering, and generating data, from various as well as using various word processing, spreadsheet, slides, and statistical data computer software applications. This experience must be fully supported and articulated in your resume to receive consideration. TYPING PROFICIENCY This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Your response to the typing skill question on the Assessment Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year of experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service is required to qualify for the GS-08 grade level. (NOTE: All Agency employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive). As a current NLRB career or career conditional employee in the Competitive Service, you may determine your current status by checking block 24 on your SF-50. Block 24 must reflect "1" or "2". Also, block 34 must reflect "1". A copy of your SF-50 must be provided for verification.) NOTE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
