This position is located in the Warehouse area of the Logistics Service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System 0/A HCS) and supported catchment area. Handles or oversees one or more product lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or may serve as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse or supply facility.
Duties
The position is located at an assigned Veterans Administration medical facility performing warehouse work.
Duties include but may not be limited to the following:
Assists in developing plans for storage and arrangement of stock in accordance with VA regulations and requirements that determine the configuration setup, movement, rearrangement, and traffic flow.
Manage space and storage in accordance with VA regulations for a specific commodity or equipment group, such as general supplies, construction materials, medical supplies, and high value items.
Lay out storage space, establishing item locations, determining organization and arrangement of stock, and identifying high and low usage items according to VA regulations and procedures.
Operate a vehicle, truck, or van not exceeding 26000 Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), with electrical or hydraulic lift.
Work on own initiative to consolidate materials and provide maximum space utilization and protection of materials.
Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials on the docking area, which may require scheduling personnel to facilitate movement of materials in accordance with priorities, scheduling requirements and space allocations.
Receive, store, and move hazardous and toxic materials and substances, such as certain types of chemicals or radioactive materials, in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
Serve as a senior member of a warehouse project team of materials handlers involved in special projects, such as conversion of the warehouse from a manual to an automated system, relocating a major commodity or equipment group, or setting up a new commodity group area.
Work Schedule: 08:00am-4:30pm. May include Weekends and Holidays.

Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORTS: The work involves considerable walking, pushing, and pulling a variety of carts and materials handling equipment. Works offloading and loading trucks, lifting products on and off-shelves, handling boxes frequently weighing over forty (40lbs) pounds. Will frequently handle equipment, furniture, and materials of an awkward and heavier nature in excess of one hundred (100lbs) pounds. These items are typically handled using specialized equipment and/or assistance of coworkers. Greater physical effort may be required on projects involving the movement of large quantities of product over an extended period including, but not limited to, turn-ins, large shipments, and deliveries. While operating vehicles, may be required to exert a greater level pf physical exertion while backing and turning trucks, operating forklifts or hand trucks on uneven terrains and uncertain conditions.

WORK CONDITIONS: Required to work in storage buildings, pods, trailers, vehicles, and warehouses that may be hot cold, drafty, and poorly lighted. Will be required to work outdoors on docks, making deliveries in all types of weather conditions during all seasons. Hazardous materials may be encountered in daily work activities. Duties will be subject to the possibility of trips, falls, scrapes, cuts, bruises, or injury from the use of equipment. All types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required. Will be subject to conditions that could result in serious accidents; precautions will be taken. Must possess a valid, state driver's license or commercial driver's license (CDL), as applicable, if required to operate a motor vehicle or commercial vehicle.
