About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM),Directorate of Emergency Services, Police/Provost Marshall Division, Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
Duties
Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls. Responsible for caller interrogation to determine the problem and the nature of the call.
Inquires and enters information into systems and maintain system security by ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed access to this system.
Monitors status and availability of police, fire, and medical field units to assure an appropriate response is made.
Refers non-emergent callers to appropriate civilian and governmental agencies.
Maintains reports and retrieve needed statistical information using the local authority's fire incident reporting system(s).
Requirements
- This position requires incumbent to work rotating shifts. The incumbent is required to work alternate work schedule and mandatory overtime which requires an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Incumbent is required to work regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition (TFPCON) or installation closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
- Travel overnight away from home station for Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required, 10%of the time.
- The incumbent is required to possess and maintain certification Cardo Pulmonary Resuscitation, DoD Telecommunicator I/II, Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) within one year of entry on duty.
- The incumbent is required to possess and maintain certification Criminal Justice Information System, National Crime Information Center training and DoD Hazardous Materials Awareness within one year of entry on duty.
- Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R or a Memorandum of Understanding and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and randomly thereafter.
- The incumbent is required to possess and maintain certification Emergency Fire Dispatch and Emergency Police Dispatch within one year of entry on duty.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Providing emergency services communication operations in an Emergency Services Communication Center, Providing clear and precise instructions under highly stressful conditions, Operating and interfacing with law enforcement computerized database such as Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Providing assistance to callers with medical emergencies.
