About the Position: Serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist under U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM-Pacific). Provides management and oversight of implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements.
This is a TERM position not to exceed 13 months, but may be extended up to a maximum of 8 years. This position may be made permanent without further competition. (See additional information for more details).
Duties
Implements and coordinates the preparation of environmental impact analysis documentation including Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Records Environmental Consideration (RECs).
Plans and establishes short and long-term objectives for the program and ensures execution of policies and procedures in support of the Army mission.
Provides advice and assistance relating to the development, execution and maintenance of other environmental protection programs to include endangered species protection, compatible use zone-noise programs, and hazardous waste disposable operations.
Analyzes unavoidable environmental effects and proposes appropriate alternatives to mitigate negative effects. Reviews and provides comments on environmental assessments and environmental impact statements prepared by others.

Specialized Experience GS-12: One year of experience which includes planning, implementing, and monitoring local environmental compliance programs and services, and preparing environmental documentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement GS-12: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
