Duties
You will provide support for the survey instrumentation aboard the assigned platform and work in a Systems Integration Laboratory ashore to support primary data collection and processing systems used on board NAVOCEANO platforms.
You will develop and maintain spare parts requirements and system documentation and provide the operational maintenance support aboard the assigned ship.
You will provide data required to support detailed engineering reports related to field support operations.
You will perform assigned maintenance procedures and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
Qualifications
GS-05: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying a basic knowledge of electronic theory and practice, of mathematics, and the fundamentals of physics as they relate to electronics in order to perform a variety of standardized technician tasks.
Experience using simple troubleshooting procedures and techniques on simple often used pieces of equipment.
Experience operating and adjusting varied equipment in order to perform numerous standardized tests or operations.
Experience following written and verbal instructions and performing mathematical, analytical and judgmental tasks.
GS-04: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying a basic knowledge of electronic theory and practice, of mathematics, and the fundamentals of physics as they relate to electronics in order to perform a variety of standardized technician tasks.
Experience operating and adjusting varied equipment in order to perform numerous standardized tests or operations.
Experience following written and verbal instructions and performing mathematical, analytical and judgmental tasks.
Experience communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.

Education
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:
GS-05: Successful completion of (a) all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology, or (b) 3 years of study in an accredited (by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc. (
ABET) curriculum in electronics, or (c) a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as those shown above for GS-4 or equivalent. At least 12 of the 24 semester hours must have been in electronics courses.
GS-04: Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in engineering, physical science, technology, or mathematics. At least 6 of the 12 semester hours must have been in electronics courses.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
