This position is located at the Fort Peck Service Unit, Division of Nursing Services, Branch of Outpatient Nursing Services, the position will service either Poplar & Wolf Point, Montana. The purpose of this position is to manage the appointment system, serve as receptionist, and assist with clerical duties to provide efficient services to clients, visitors, and other health care providers under the direction of the Director of Nursing.
Duties
Schedule appointments to accommodate the medical and personal needs of patients.
Perform clerical duties related to patient referrals, notify appropriate personnel and route patient records according to established protocols.
Maintain record confidentiality and safeguard information, adhering to the Rules and Regulation of the Privacy Act of 1974.
Copy and compile data as directed. Coordinate appointments with other departments
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-4: 1 year of general experience OR 2 years of education above high schools
GS-5: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 grade level OR 4 years of education above high school
GS-6: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least next lower grade
General Experience (All positions except Reporting Stenographer, Shorthand Reporter, and Closed Micro-phone Reporter)--Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Specialized Experience (All positions except Reporting Stenographer, Shorthand Reporter, and Closed Micro-phone Reporter)--Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.
NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable.
Examples of general experience at GS-4: maintain a filing system, answer telephone, determine nature call and handle appropriately, greet customers, use a computer use correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and required formats.
Examples of specialized experience at GS-5: assemble patient records according to prescribed formats, determine patients' eligibility for treatment, schedule appointments for patients with other medical services, answer questions regarding routine procedures, operate personal computers, data processing equipment, and/or office support software for word processing, data entry, or data retrieval.
Examples of specialized experience at GS-6: receive and direct patients and visitors, answering routine inquiries, and making appropriate referral of questions concerning patients' condition, use and apply medical terminology, determine eligibility requirements for Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans' Health, and Vocational Rehabilitation, enforce and work with laws and regulations related to the confidentiality of medical records and the release of information from medical records, computerized data entry and information systems
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
