You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER in the ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE AND SERVICES BRANCH of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will directly supervise several professional, technical employees in grades GS-12 through GS-13, including GS-0819-13 Supervisory Environmental Engineers, Physical Scientists, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). You will serve as the principal civilian consultant to the command on Environmental Compliance and Services programs. You will advise Senior NAVFAC and Region Representatives in matters related to the Region Environmental Compliance Program. You will resolve problems or conflicts as related to environmental compliance program management within the area of responsibility.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) if applying for the 0819 series. Your license must be held in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. You MUST provide a copy of your current license with your application. A copy of a wall certificate that does not have an expiration date will not serve to verify this requirement. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing consulting and advisory services on environmental program requirements; 2) Managing environmental programs, 3) Leading staff in the planning, direction, and execution of environmental programs for an organization; and 4) Solving complex problems associated with the management of environmental programs.
