You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (PASSENGER) in the LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.

Duties

You will Serves as transportation assistant within the Passenger Travel Office with delegated authority to process any required transportation actions. You will process any required transportation actions, domestic, foreign and worldwide movement of military and civilian personnel and/or their family members involved in troop or unit moves and/or individually under the current travel system. You will plan and direct overall transportation requirements for individual and group personnel movements related to the routing and booking of passenger travel arrangements via DoD approved commercial carriers. You will verify official authorization for travel. You will interview and counsel military and civilian personnel and their family members on requests for and entitlements pertaining to official travel. You will counsel individual, group leaders, or movement commanders both verbally and via written material concerning selected modes, routes, schedules, and baggage limitations and handling. You will use appropriate automated travel systems (e.g., Global Air Transportation Executive System (GATES), Defense Travel System (DTS), Group Passenger Travel (GOPAX). You will supports installation transportation systems, passenger management, and unit movement (air, surface, and/or water). You will serves as a Passport Agent. You will sign passport applications as an agent of the State Department for the MCAS, MCRD, BNH Dos Passport/Visa Section. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining travel files relating to passport/visa, foreign clearance, CBA, PCS, TCS, TDY, premium travel, and foreign area travel.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must be able to attend and successfully complete Dos Passport Agent Certification Course and may be completed within 12 months of employment and be renewed every two years.
  • This is a Mission Essential position.
  • This position is subject to recall and may require you work other than normal duty hours inclusive of nights and weekends.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning and arranging movement involving different and combinations of modes of transportation; traffic management and transportation policies, principles, and methodology; working knowledge of all areas of Passenger travel including transportation actions in connection with domestic, foreign, and worldwide movement of military and civilian personnel; plan and direct overall transportation requirements for individual and group personnel movement; use a variety of automated transportations and automated database systems (e.g., Global Air Transportation Executive System (GATES), Defense Travel System (DTS), Group Passenger Travel (GOPAX).
