As a Data Scientist at the GS-1560-9, you will be part of Healthcare and Insurance, Office of Personnel Management. If selected, you will be responsiblefor assisting with the deployment and enhancement of enterprise-wide analytics solutions using standard/routine analytics techniques such as basic machine learning, natural language processing, robotics process automation, and artificial intelligence.

Duties

Assists with implementing data science policies, standards, procedures, and processes related to data. Uses basic communication skills, data visualization, and written materials to convey in simple terms concepts and results to stakeholders. Assists with the implementation of user-centric visualization solutions that provide business insights to decision makers.

Qualifications

You must FIRST meet the basic requirements: A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. or B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. AND, in addition to the basic requirements: For the GS 9: One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level (or equivalent) OR a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, OR a combination of the specialized experience and education. Applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 level. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
