Duties

You will evaluate impacts of new technologies on current systems and policies. You will serve as a team leader responsible for complete projects that are important segments of much larger overall efforts. You will acquire sufficient parametric knowledge of systems and fleet life cycles to perform cost and economic analyses. You will write computer programs for simulations. You will perform studies of issues arising in such subjects as logistics, hazardous materials, training, basic operations, and/or mobilization scenarios. You will document study purposes, methods, assumptions, and conclusions. You will generate ideas for new programs, policies, studies, and approaches in one or more subject areas.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position requires a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for this position. You must be willing and able to submit to a SCHR check.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade GS-11 level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: serving as a senior level Operations Research Analyst conducting studies and analyses using operations research techniques such as modeling & simulation, data analysis, decision analysis, applied mathematics, and programming. GS-13: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: leading teams and interpreting results of military operations studies and analysis performed in order to recommend and report to higher level officials; study various factors that could possibly affect the quality and efficiency of a variety of agency programs and related functions and processes; conducts professional operations research analyses and investigations and make decisions or recommendations that significantly affect the content, interpretation, or development of major programs and policies. Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Applicants must possess: Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
