About the Position: You will serve as principal administrative support assistant. Responsible for the accomplishment of the clerical, administrative and office automation functions of the Area Office. Work requires general knowledge of office mission and functions of Branch and an understanding of how the office administrative services relate to each other and to the mission.

Duties

Advise manager(s) on practical and technical aspects of office administration, including budgeting, purchasing, supply management, personnel administration, data processing and files management and performs staff support. Track financial, personnel, supply and other administrative transactions as documentation flows through office in electronic and paper form. Collect data for office operating budget, review submissions of office staff assistants for proper format and compliance with budget requirements and consolidates material into annual office budget. Provide contract administration support. Use automation equipment and software (word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.), to produce a wide variety material, e.g., correspondence, reports, graphics, calendars, charts, statistical tables and various forms and documents.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires passing a pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear personnel protective equipment (PPE).
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a driver's license in one of the 50 US states or possessions and any installation and/or DoD requirement.

  • Work may involve occasional trips of boats, and floating plant and field visits to heavy construction sites.
  • Work may involve exposure to environmental hazards, chemicals, bacteria, toxic particulates, machinery, adverse weather, construction noise, irregular terrain and other conditions typically associated with construction sites.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Utilizing an automated software to compile statistical data and reports, 2) Monitoring suspense dates for office staff, 3) Resolving problems associated with administrative and clerical aspects of the office AND 4) Acting as timekeeper for an office. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist types 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
