Duties

In this Mission Support Specialist (Logistics) position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security individuals involved in carrying out a wide variety of mission support, assisting with sector supplies and fleet management budget development, and program planning activities related to the missions and functions of the agency. This position starts at a salary of $86,962.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $113,047.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $$113,047.00 (GS-12 Step 10). Typical duties of this assignment include: Managing the sector/station fleet program to include overseeing the ordering, receiving, inventorying, transferring, and excessing fleet vehicles. Managing the agency's property program to include acquisition, receiving, transferring, excessing, reutilization, repairing, disposal, and retiring of various types of property. Performing ongoing mentoring, training and guidance to peers, colleagues, employees and supervisors. Performing other mission support-related duties for the sector, such as scheduling of travel, processing personnel actions such as payroll, vacation, and/or overtime, analyzing the local office's budget, and serving as a point of contact for the headquarters or sector office staff on emerging trends affecting the agency or their division's business process.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Conducting local records management and preparing various property records. Performing tasks associated with creating requisitions and purchase orders to ensure budget approval. Preparing special briefings and reports to management to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations for future supplies procurement and fleet management needs. Managing local agency's fleet card program; ordering cards, performing audits, extracting reports, reporting fraud and processing override requests. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 04/08/2024.
