Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S Border Patrol, Rio Grande Valley Sector, Law Enforcement Operational Programs, Centralized Processing Center located in McAllen, Texas.

Duties

In this Supervisory Mission Support Specialist role, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in supervising administrative positions who provide services in direct support of operations programs. This position starts at a salary of $82,830.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $107,680.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $107,680.00 (GS-12 Step 10). Typical duties of this assignment include: Supervising a team that coordinates and performs a wide variety of administrative and management services essential to the operations of the USBP office including management information systems, telecommunications, budget, finance, procurement, workforce management, training, logistics, property, space, records and files, printing and graphics, mail, travel, and office equipment; Providing confidential support for USBP with respect to managing and directing CBP outreach and communication programs; Supervising a team of administrative personnel and speaks authoritatively on an in-depth knowledge of USBP policies, commitments, and interests; Acting as the liaison for senior management to determine the nature of requests.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Conducting or participating in the evaluation of administrative programs, systems, and methods and identifying ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these services; Operating, managing, and overseeing a fleet management program including purchasing, disposal, maintenance, budgeting, and reporting functions; Overseeing a team that researches, evaluates, prioritizes, and recommends solutions for critical issues related to information systems, telecommunications, budget, finance, procurement, workforce management, training, logistics, property, space, records and files, printing and graphics, mail, travel, and office equipment; Advising management on assigned administrative matters. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/29/2023. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
