Joining the Secret Service, Office of Investigations, Forensic Services Division will allow you to conduct forensic analysis to develop and identify latent print ridges on evidence utilizing various methodologies, techniques, and practices.

Duties
The selectee will serve as a/an Fingerprint Specialist in the Forensic Services Division. Typical work assignments include:
Utilizing chemical, physical, and instrumental techniques (i.e., Mideo Latent Works, Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS), LASER, and Alternate Light Sources) to conduct examinations.
Serving as an expert witness in Federal and other court systems to present evidence and testimony pertaining to results of examinations.
Preparing reports to communicate procedures, results, and findings of print analysis.
Training stakeholders on proper techniques for processing, collection, preservation, and packaging of evidence and material.
Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting salary $68,405.00) if you possess one of the following:
GS-09: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Work that provided knowledge of the techniques for comparing and lifting latent fingerprints on a wide variety of evidentiary materials;
Photographing latent and inked prints, and;
Making photographic enlargements for court demonstrations.
You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $68,405.00) if you possess one of the following:
GS-11: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Performing difficult latent fingerprint examinations;
Preparing written laboratory reports based on examinations; and
Testifying as an expert witness in the area of latent fingerprint examinations.
