Joining the Secret Service, Office of Investigations, Forensic Services Division, Fingerprint Operations Branch will allow you to provide a full range of latent print related services and provide technical expertise to field offices in all matter involving latent prints. This Supervisory Fingerprint Specialist position starts at a salary of $139,395 GS-14 with promotion potential to $181,216, GS-14. For more information on the Secret Service click here.

Duties

The selectee will serve as a Supervisory Fingerprint Specialist in the Forensic Services Division. Typical work assignments include: Manage the division's instrumentation and equipment to ensure that required equipment is available and in good working order to support mission objectives. Perform the full range of first line supervisory tasks for division personnel. Serve as an expert court witness responsible for presenting independent, objective opinion testimony on complex technical issues in terms understandable to the layman. Recommend and participate in research and special projects. Oversee the Forensic Fingerprint Specialist Training Program, including the development of training materials; internal quality assurance processes, including the preparation of competency examinations and the administration of proficiency testing; and for ensuring all laboratory and agency wide policies and procedures are adhered to.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-14 level (starting salary $139,395.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Evaluating program operations to recommend changes to procedures and/or policies; Providing technical guidance on latent print processing and operations; and Reviewing latent print examinations to ensure compliance with evidence handling requirements.
