This position is with the Department of Veterans Affairs, VHA assigned to the Women Veterans Program and functions as a program/administrative assistant, under the administrative supervision of the Women Health Medical Director.

Duties

Develops collaborative relationships with other services and departments that provide care for the women Veteran population. Demonstrates ability to utilize computer software by managing data collection, retrieval, and tabulation of statistics. Compiles and generates reports from various databases; creates graphs to track and trend spreadsheet outcome data. Provides administrative, program, and technical assistance in the areas of day-to-day operations and program planning/evaluation for the overall Women Veterans Program Functions as the clerical associate for the Women Veterans Health Committee by formatting and distributing minutes, memorandums, and bulletins. Functions as the Control Point Clerk for the Women Veterans Program processing all requests for educational materials, office supplies, medical equipment, and other items as needed. Maintains and processes travel vouchers and reimbursement for mileage (outreach programs) for the Women Veteran Program Manager and Women's Health Medical Director. Serves as clerical associate by processing incoming phone calls, managing incoming and outgoing program facsimile and mail, addressing secure messaging and Veteran Experience Office concerns (i.e., PATS-R). Responsible for the administrative scheduling of monthly Women's Health Grounds and Women Veterans Health Committee meetings. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/11/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience with medical terminology, medical records, evaluation forms, filing and distribution systems; prepares correspondence and reports; operates a variety of standard office and VA computer programs and databases to analyze and display data utilizing templates, graphics, and spreadsheets; process incoming and outgoing phone calls, facsimiles, and mail; maintains and processes travel vouchers and contract billing; technical competency in use of timekeeping, electronic health records, computerized patient records (e.g. VATAS, VistA, and CPRS) and be able to train others in its use. AND Typing Proficiency: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: the work is sedentary with no special physical demands required to do the work. Walking, sitting, standing, bending, and carrying of paper are involved in the performance of duties.
