You will serve as an INSPECTOR GENERAL in the OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL of NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL.
Duties
You will manage the Naval Postgraduate School Oversight Program, the Department of the Navy Hotline Program, and all external audits, inspections, and command directed investigations.
You will initiate investigations, and act as the review authority for investigations of allegations concerning fraud, waste, abuse, mismanagement, and other improprieties.
You will ensure all investigative reports are thoroughly prepared to assure complaints or allegations have been adequately addresses and remedial actions, including legal, contractual, administrative, and disciplinary actions have been addressed.
You will manage all input to the Naval Inspector General Hotline Tracking System (NIGHTS), which is the DON management information system for data related to hotline investigations.
You will compile and analyze data, recognize trends, and employ various investigate methods as required from the developments of the case.
You will manage the certification and credentialing process for inspector generals, coordinate work assignments, provide advice and counsel, evaluate work performance, identify training needs, and take disciplinary measures as required.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Overseeing, planning, and executing command or program inspections, internal oversight reviews, external audit liaison, and managing or executing hotline investigation program requirements; 2) Demonstrating the ability to supervise and lead civilian personnel in the performance of compliance inspections, investigations, and external oversight liaison functions; 3) Developing agency-wide IG program policies, procedures and strategies; 4) Using analytical abilities to properly interpret guidance, understand the relationship of facts, develop findings and recommendations, present evidence and uncover the methods used to disguise fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement.
