You will serve as a ASSISTANT INSPECTOR GENERAL for the NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL.

Duties

You will conduct long-range planning and analysis, inspections of systemic issues, follow-up inspections, lead or assist with investigative inquiries, and coordinate managers internal control program. You will document inspection and audit results and makes defensible recommendations to the IG for inclusion in the OIG annual oversight program. You will research, collect, organize, review, and analyze pertinent data to identify potential topics with associated issue areas and develop inspection purpose, scope, and methodology. You wil prepare and conduct entrance and exit briefings to management for each inspection and schedule and conduct functional interviews with personnel charged with managing inspected programs. You will develop findings for problem areas identified during course of inspection providing complete identification of the problems, background to support the deficiencies, and logical, supportable recommendations for corrective actions. You will conduct investigations and/or inquiries and provide assistance or participate as an investigative/inquiry/assistance team member with other IGs and prepare briefings for presentation regarding the case.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing authoritative technical advice and planning and conducting assessments in the Inspector General and management control fields; 2) Gathering supporting documentation, conducting analysis, and reporting on important issues/sensitive cases; 3) Assessing risk and developing recommendations for effective internal controls to assure programs and processes meet their intended objectives.
