About the Position: The mission of the CCAD is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, chemical, metallurgical and training support.

Duties

Disassemble helicopter rotor heads and related components. Examine and evaluates disassembled parts to determine serviceability. Review historical documents to determine serviceability. Identify and tags items beyond economical repair (BER) in accordance with prescribed specifications. Complete minor rework of the item to restore serviceability, such as, buffing, polishing or grinding surfaces to smooth out pits and scratches, bead blasting, shot peening, replacing small parts and touching up plating.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the drug abuse testing program.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation (Tier 1 Non-Sensitive, Low Risk)
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.

Skill in following guidance to examine parts for damage and/or wear patterns to determine if they are reusable or need reworking. Skill in using some common hand tools, shop equipment and machinery (buffer, grinder, bead blasting machine, press), fixtures special tools, and test equipment. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble ShootingUse of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Work frequently requires handling objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Is required to lift, reach, bend, walk, pull, push, sit, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Working Conditions: Usually performs work inside areas that are adequately lighted, ventilated, and heated. Is frequently exposed to loud noise from the movement of machinery and test equipment; to the possibility of cuts, burns, strains, electrical shock, and abrasions from handling equipment or from moving parts of machinery; and to unpleasant conditions from dirt, solvents, fuel, toxic fumes, grease, and gases. Floor surfaces may be wet, oily, or slippery. Various protective devices such as earplugs, face shields, gloves, and safety glasses are used. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of the position.
