About the Position: The Operations Division provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the Corps' Civil Works projects. It oversees projects and programs related to water navigation, flood damage reduction, geospatial data, recreation, environmental stewardship and coastal management. The division provides guidance for developing designs, plans, and specifications for mechanical systems in support of the District's operations and maintenance program.

Duties

While assigned to a vessel, works under the supervision of the Master or Small Boat Operator and follows established operating practices and techniques associated with waterway missions and floating plant maintenance. Perform general maintenance work, repair and paint decks, hulls, superstructure and interior spaces of vessels. Operate cargo gear and deck machinery, rigging booms, handling lines during docking, moving and towing operations, and mending lines and canvas. Stand lookout, security and wheel watches. Connect and disconnect hoses and pipelines. Operate fishing gear and similar work.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires participation in the Department of Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program to include passing a urinalysis drug test prior to appointment and passing random urinalysis drug and alcohol testing after appointment.
• This position requires a physical examination prior to appointment.
• This position requires moderately heavy physical effort in lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs as well as working in stretched and cramped positions.
• In this position you are subject to recall 24 hours a day, 7 days a week due to an emergency situation such as plane crashes, hurricanes etc.
• You may be expected to travel up to 10% for this position.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position requires alcohol testing per ER690-1-1218.
