Duties

In this position you will serve as the Los Angeles Branch Chief with the California Regional Intelligence Center, under the National Border Security Intelligence Center Directorate, Southern Border Intelligence Center. This position starts at a salary of $142,094.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $184,725.00 (GS-14, Step 10). You will perform the following duties, along with others: Providing management over a workforce engaged in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, evaluating, and disseminating intelligence information and data related to antiterrorism, terrorists organizations and groups, weapons of mass destruction, migrant, contraband and narcotics smuggling and other criminal acts and violations of CBP and related laws. Monitoring the work to be accomplished by setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion; ensuring the timely performance of a satisfactory amount and quality of work. Assigns work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirement of assignments, and the capabilities of employees; reviews work products, accepts, amends, and rejects works. Evaluating performance and identifying developmental and training needs. Hears and resolves minor grievances effects minor disciplinary actions. Recommends promotions, reassignments and details and furthers affirmative action and equal opportunity requirements. Directing the utilization of personnel though sound position management practices and directs the proper utilization of assigned facilities and other resources.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS 14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Identifying intelligence gaps, developing a viable and scoped collection plan, and prioritization of the employment of resources to execute the collection plan. Conducting studies, preparing intelligence reports, and delivering briefings to manager and operators to enhance understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. Representing the organization on working groups, committees, and joint operational constructs. Making authoritative decisions regarding the collection, processing, analysis, production, and dissemination of finished intelligence products to mitigate uncertainty in approach, methodology, or interpretation; applies evaluation processes in the midst of continuing program changes, technological developments, unknown phenomena, or conflicting requirements; and originates new techniques, criteria, guides, methodologies, and concepts in the solution of unprecedented problems, and develops experimental approaches and solutions. Identifying problems or potential difficulties in on-going projects and provides guidance on how to proceed to mitigate challenges and achieve the desired end states or outcomes. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 04/05/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
