This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Assistant Commandant for Human Resources/SADI, Health, Safety, and Worklife Directorate (CG-11) Washington, DC.
Duties
You will serve as Administrative Specialist managing the overall day-to-day administrative, office, and technical management processes. The services performed are highly confidential, diverse, often complex, and are time-sensitive to the operations of the organization.

Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-9 level: Applicants must have One (1) year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: providing advice, guidance, information, and direction in administrative and clerical policies, procedures, functions, processes, and guidelines to support the staff; communicating with senior/higher-leveled military/civilian personnel; monitoring the status of projects, reports, correspondence, appointments, managing/coordinating travel; serving as office timekeeper; maintaining incoming and outgoing mail and greeting and escorting office visitors.
OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree; Two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; (or an LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
A Combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
