THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: 103d Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS), East Granby, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the CTANG. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the CTANG. Area 3: Individuals eligible for membership in the CTANG. Membership must be satisfied within four (4) months of selection.

Duties

JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the position is to perform warehouse inspection, storage, and inventory of a wide variety of supply and equipment items, classified and sensitive items, War Consumables Distribution Objective (WCDO) items; selecting items to be issued, shipped, or transferred; conducting warehouse validations and inventories; maintaining central locator functions; performing warehouse inspection functions (i.e., shelf life, functional checks); and managing the staging area for delivery of items. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Connecticut Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Receives and processes notice to stock parts and equipment. Stores all in-warehouse supply and equipment items. Conducts periodic validation of warehouse locations. Selects items to be issued and/or shipped and transfers them to the Cargo Movement Element for subsequent delivery/shipment. Inspects all classes of property for which the USPFO Accountable Officer has responsibility and/or accountability, including small arms, aircraft parts and components; motor vehicle parts; building and construction materials; special equipment; gasses, chemical, and wood products; packaged petroleum products: machines and communication equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside. May work in areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. May be required to work outside, subject to inclement weather. Work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. May be exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises, falls from ladders or other injury from mechanical conveyer systems or other material handling equipment. Will be required to wear personal protective items to ensure safety in accordance with AFOSH standards while working with hazardous materials. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods at a time. Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies, and equipment that weigh up to 70 pounds. May handle items that weigh over 70 pounds. Hand trucks, dollies, and other workers are available for assistance with heavier items.

Requirements

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
  • Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
  • Direct Deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Must possess a valid state drivers license.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 9 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment. Experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skill in the receipt, inspection, storage, issue and shipment phases of warehouse operations. Skill, knowledge, and ability to off load and direct carrier to off loading site; prepare statements on loss, damage, or destruction of property, perform inspections of warehouse items/equipment in accordance with Air Force and local inspection program procedures, initiate report of discrepancies, store and locate all assets maintained by the warehouse, perform annual stock validation of warehouse inventory, issue items from storage and prepares items for shipment and delivery. Knowledge of warehouse operations and layout, stock control and inventory procedures, documentation procedures associated with preparing discrepancy and damage reports, processes involved with stock/item identification, binning, stocking, and tagging, knowledge of hazardous material, warehousing and inspection requirements, and standard supply system automated processing procedures, etc. Ability to organize and arrange stock in storage areas, track turnover of stock for replenishing bins, receive, unload and process incoming shipments, select/assemble items for shipment and issue, and assist in inventories and determining basis for shortages/overages. Knowledge in research procedures. Knowledge in reading various meters such as leak detectors for gasses, etc. Knowledge of work center computer operation. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/AFSC. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
