THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: 103d Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS), East Granby, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel assigned to the LRS of the CTANG.

Duties

JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose is to direct the performance of all warehousing operations (Central Storage, HAZMAT Pharmacy, Aircraft Parts Store (RSP), Individual Protective Equipment, and Individual Equipment Elements). The position has direct technical supervision over Materials Handlers, WG-6907-06, and administrative supervision over the HAZMAT Specialist, GS-2001-09. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Assigns tasks to be performed. Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Performs the non-supervisory work of the function as needed. Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted. Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls and injury from falling stock or mechanized conveyor systems. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease and solvents, and to high noise levels in mechanized work areas. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks and rubber aprons. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Stands on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and bends, stoops, and works in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds. Heavier items are moved with material handling equipment or assistance from other workers.

Requirements

  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
  • Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
  • Direct Deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience performing inventory and inspections to determine serviceability of stocked items. Experience in interpreting and applying written instructions, reference materials, publications, and manuals. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to plan and organize the work of the assigned warehouse organization. Ability to meet deadlines. Knowledge of warehouse functions. Ability to work with others. Ability to oversee and train subordinate supervisors, to deal objectively with workers and render sound supervisory decisions. Ability to devise new methods. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of AFSC. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training.
