About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Security Guard (Military Ocean Terminal) at the 596th Transportation Brigade, Military Ocean Terminal- Sunny Point.

Duties

Direct work for security guard patrol on a daily basis to prevent and control threats, sabotages and other criminal activities. Direct guard mount and safety briefings. Inspect personnel and government equipment/vehicles for serviceability and compliance with security measures. Make changes in work assignments to maintain security coverage of installation. Develop performance standards and evaluate subordinates work performance. Interview candidates for subordinate security guard positions.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Pre-appointment and annual physical is required. Must pass all medical examinations in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
  • Must pass physical agility tests, in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
  • Must submit to drug testing urinalysis on a recurring basis, in accordance with Army Regulation 600-85.
  • Must carry firearms; successfully complete periodic skill proficiency examination and maintain current required certifications in the use of firearms.
  • Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • This position is covered by the 1998 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. 922) Persons convicted of misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • Temporary duty (TDY) business travel to worldwide locations is required less than 25% of the time.
  • Employee must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid. May act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer. Incumbent must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Individual Reliability Program certification in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
  • Must obtain one or more of the following licenses: Small Boat Captains Operator of Inspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV) License or a U.S. Army Marine Certification IAW Chapter 5, AR 56-9 within one year of being appointed to this position.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
