You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SECURITY GUARD in the Force Protection Division of NAS JACKSONVILLE SEC DET.

Duties

You will respond to natural or man-made disasters to aid in controlling panic, vandalism, looting, sabotage, and the disclosure or loss of classified material. You will respond to reports of overt acts, hazardous conditions which might result in injury to persons or damage to property, disturbances, or suspicious persons or conditions to support security efforts. You will enforce access controls to safeguard and protect life, property, and equipment. You will consult with specialists on development and training needs of employees to assist employees in gaining or improving knowledge, skills, and abilities for security operations. You will recommend candidates for promotions and reassignments to fill vacant security openings. You will prepare in-depth reports of incidents that occur where identification of responsibility is crucial (e.g., homicides and accidents).

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.

  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing a safe environment for workers and visitors, 2) Providing physical security services; AND 3) Detecting drugs and alcohol that may be on individuals, vehicles, or other property. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The incumbent must: Pass an official background investigation (or reinvestigation) prior to being assigned Navy Security Force duties. Ability to pass an initial and annual OSHA prescribed physical examination and possess visual acuity of at least 20/20 (corrected or uncorrected). Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle driver's license. Ability to qualify on required weapons in order to pass prescribed courses. Must also be familiar with riot guns, tear gas, and special weapons. Must complete Phase I and II law enforcement training (as outlined in OPNAVINST 5530.14 series), pass a written test by a minimum of 70%, and pass a physical test. Must be familiar with various drugs, including alcohol, in order that their presence may be detected by sight and/or smell. Must also be familiar with the symptoms of drugs which are commonly abused, in order to detect their presence in drug abusers by their actions. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret secrity clearance. Must be screened for and pass the Lautenberg Act requirements.
