The primary purpose of this position Is: To exercise technical and limited administrative supervision over subordinate work leaders and workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of Heating, Ventilating, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration.

• Employee must maintain current certifications. Position requires CFC/NCFC Certification (universal) as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpan F, EPA.

• The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. May be required to drive 1/4 to 2-½ ton truck to and from work site. An appropriate, valid driver's license is be required for the position
• Works indoors and outdoors, on elevated structures and in cramped areas.
• Works near moving parts of equipment and machinery, energized electrical circuits, sharp metal edges, loud noises, and toxic fumes wbich could cause cuts, burns, and respiratory ailments.
• May be subject to sudden and frequent temperature changes.
• Subject to discomfort from facemasks or 0U1er protective devices when t11ere is a possibility of exposure to toxic refrigerants, noxious fumes or acids.
• Work requires frequent stooping, stretching, bending, kneeling, and working in tiring uncomfortable positions for long periods.
• Work involves frequent movement and maneuvering of large, heavy equipment using boists, holders, and pulleys as required.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the Classifying Federal Wage System Positions (opm.gov). Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to lead or supervise. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of air conditioning and heating trades supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/Employment Treatment Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to trades supervised. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission .Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
