Duties
Functions as a Recreation Program Manager in the Reentry Services Division, Education Branch, Central Office, Washington, D.C. Responsible for developing, coordinating and managing recreation, leisure activity, fitness, and wellness programs for the Bureau of Prisons. Responsible for all developmental and administrative aspects of recreation program management, including budget formulation, staff training, policy development, management, EDS, strategic planning, drafting of correspondence, pilot initiatives, Executive Staff papers, internal/external audits, etc. Initiates and develops Bureau policies and programs as they relate to effective planning, development, implementation, and assessment of recreation, education, reentry, and, hobby craft leisure activity, and wellness programs. Collects and analyzes data and related materials in the preparation of overall, systemwide reports for all phases of recreation and related programs.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Experience supervising multiple recreation facilities which includes intramural sports leagues, wellness, fitness, music, hobby-craft, leisure time and other special activities targeted at multiple levels of participant abilities.
Experience monitoring and interpreting recreation data and crafting strategies to increase quality participation across a variety of facilities, each representing unique challenges and/or capabilities.
Experience making independent decisions related to the running of recreation programs, including scheduling of staff, activities, cost management and supervising non-traditional persons such as volunteers or contractors.
