The incumbent serves as Attorney (International/Transportation), GS-0905-14 for the US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM).
Duties
As a ATTORNEY (INTERNATIONAL/TRANSPORTATION) you will be responsible for the following duties:
Provides advice to command staff and DOD organizations on complex legal issues in the areas of aviation and transportation law, international law, insurance, fiscal law and financial reporting, civil law and ethics in government, personnel law, and contracts.
Responsible for reviewing, interpreting, and applying international agreements, legislation, regulations, contracts, orders, and other legal instruments to USTRANSCOM planning and operational requirements.
Responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating international agreements with foreign partners and allies, to include implementing arrangements for transportation and related services.
Responsible for researching and providing legal opinions for other USTRANSCOM civil and transportation issues as required.
Frequently represents the command on DOD, inter-agency, government-to-government level committees, panels and working groups. - Researches and provides draft positions for adoption relative to fiscal management of the Transportation Working Capital Fund.
Requirements
- This position is designated by the AF as a Test Designated Position (TDP) under the AF Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of random drug testing
- Licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing, with the bar of a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth is a condition of employment
- Must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service (visit www.sss.gov for more information)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen

- Travel and relocation expenses, if approved, will be paid IAW JTR and AFMAN 36-606
Qualifications
Qualification standards for attorney positions may be found in DoD Directive 1442.2, "Personnel Actions Involving Civilian Attorneys" at DoD Instruction 1442.02, September 30, 2010 (whs.mil).

Experience in Administrative, Fiscal, Regulatory, or International Law highly desirable, but not required.
Education
You must be a graduate from an ABA-accredited law school, and be in good standing of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Bar.
