THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), Position Description Number D2524000 and is part of the KS Joint Forces Headquarters, National Guard.
Duties
An IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-11, provides auditing to ensure secure operations of the network enclave and provide incident response actions as directed by the cybersecurity service provider.
Conducts audits of information systems compliance, to include network devices; servers; and end user devices, related to security standards, guides and application updates to enable and ensure accreditation of all systems IAW with all command, Army, and DOD security directives, policies and procedures. Ensures that all elements are in compliance with guidance concerning accreditation of automated information systems, risk management, control of computer viruses, and other similar issues.
Reviews Army Training and Certification Tracking System, approves new user accounts, and conducts ongoing audits to ensure all privileged and user accounts comply with Army Standards.
Conducts investigation of security incidents, reports findings to leadership and remediates findings based on guidance from the cybersecurity service provider and IAW with all command, Army, and DOD security directives, policies and procedures to include: computer viruses and sanitation of highly classified information from organization.
Reviews submissions to Change Configuration Board, or other bodies proposing changes, to network or information systems and applications and makes recommendations to senior cybersecurity team lead.
Maintains an operational knowledge base of past, current and possible future threats to the security posture by attending courses, conferences, seminars, online research, and information sharing between other Cybersecurity/Information Assurance professionals. Must anticipate the effects of new emerging technology and develop policies to control it to prevent security violations. Makes recommendations regarding policies and/or procedures to prevent or react to security concerns.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance level.
- All certifications are required within 6 month of employment.
Qualifications
Military Grades: E1 through E9 or WO1 through CW3
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education, or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered; Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 12 months experience, education, or training which demonstrates a thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment; Experience conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstructing records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, or parts; Experience performing routine aspects of supply work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management.
Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:
If you are using Education to qualify for this position, at the GS-11 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
