Duties
Share the duties of the Deputy State Director (Administrative Officer) by planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of the Division of Support Services.
Direct, coordinate, and oversee work through subordinate supervisors. Select staff; explain performance expectations; approve expenses; recommend awards; and hear and resolve grievances.
Mediate issues which arise as a result of policy and program implementation. Develop and recommend statewide policy for support services programs in support of land management programs.
Coordinate development and maintenance of strategies, goals, performance measures and annual work plans. Write, review and approve program development, policy analysis activities, and budget submissions.
Balance workload and provide overall direction and vision to subordinate supervisors on a wide range of functional and administrative issues.
Requirements

- This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. You will be required to submit to screening for illegal drug use and pass prior to appointment. This position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
Qualifications

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is defined as: experience with management programs requiring multiple-use management practices and methods of a variety of functions and interacting with all levels of the agency; accomplishing work through others, e.g., project manager, team or project lead, etc.; experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships to achieve goals and objectives; in conducting oral briefings and presentations; in preparing reports which identify, analyze and integrate diverse data, present findings and conclusions, and provide alternatives and/or recommendations (reports often weigh and balance diverse opinions with agency requirements and technical needs; in making clear, well-reasoned decisions balancing diverse opinions; and working with organizational practices and procedures.)
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
