You will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN PLANNER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, ENGINEERING BUSINESS LINE of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will prepare estimates and job plans for recurring preventive maintenance.
You will attend meetings to verify the scope is in line with activities needs and requirements.
You will prepare schedules for construction and maintenance job plans, modification and estimates.
You will advise shops on job plans to observe safety regulations and give special instruction necessary to prevent damage to government property and possible rework.
Requirements

Qualifications
For Outside applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service): I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Performing recurring planning and estimating for corrective maintenance of mechanical systems within facilities; 2) Preparing cost estimates and job plans showing equipment, material and personnel requirements for the construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of facilities ; 3) Utilizing the technical aspects of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, and practices to perform the full range of projects such as the construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of facilities; 4) Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and sketches; 5) Incorporating safety, environmental and energy conservation requirements in job plans.
For applicants who are current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service employees: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Assisting with conducting analyses and assessments of facility, site and environmental conditions. 2) Assisting in designing, planning, and cost estimating for the trades and crafts involved in execution of facilities services; 3) Communicating effectively with customers and Management; and 4) Preparing detailed specifications for item/services required in purchased in place contracts and is responsible for quality control inspection for the same.

Education
Applicants that do not meet the specialized experience as described above may qualify with education or a combination of experience and education, as follows:
I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree;
or
two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree;
or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
