About the Position: Serves as the secretary and principal administrative assistant to the Commander of a Regional Dental Command responsible for multiple subordinate Dental Activities (DENTACs) spanning a broad geographic area. This position is located at Fort Belvoir, VA.
Duties
Receives and screen a wide variety of calls/visitors for the organization.
Manage operational schedule of the organization command level.
Make travel arrangements for management.
Prepare routine correspondence, formal correspondence and other documents. Thoroughly reviews correspondence and other work prepared by others for content, correct grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and appropriate format.
Uses a variety of office automation software in support of the organization.
Reviews documents prepared by other staff; provides guidance on correspondence; and ensures the accuracy of correspondence prepared by subordinate units.
Coordinate administrative, technical, and clerical operations in support of the administrative management of the organization.
Requirements

- Temporary duty travel up to 10% of the time required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience performing administrative/clerical duties which include preparing a variety of written correspondence such as reports, memorandums, and information papers; utilizing office automation equipment and software such as EXCEL, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; maintaining organization calendar and scheduling meetings; screening visitors and calls for the organization.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
