You will serve as a Model Maker within the Facility and Infrastructure Management Department, Facility and Plant Maintenance Division, at Fleet Readiness Center - Southwest, NAS North Island, San Diego, CA.

Duties

You will lead others in the accomplishment of maintenance operation and related activities through assignment of work, providing resources, monitoring and reporting on work progress. You will answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g. technical orders or safety guidelines). You will work as a Model Maker and act as a liaison between supervisor, engineers, and journeymen, on research and development projects to ensure all development needs are met. You will obtain any additional necessary information required to complete projects. You will assure machine tool availability and capacity to accomplish required work. You will provide all necessary specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and sketches to complete job. You will participate in manufacturing parts and assemblies from metallic and non-metallic stock. You will use standard and specialized machine tools and their attachments. You will comply with safety regulations, practices, and procedures.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This position requires standing, stooping, bending, reaching, and frequent handling of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Position is subject to high noise and dirt levels. Hazards to skin and eyes from flying debris and moving machinery, hazards from coolants, lubricants and cleaning agents are in existence.
  • May work in shop atmosphere or at field sites, on submarines, on aircraft, or ships at sea.
  • Position may be subject to travel considerable distances.
  • This position requires abidance of shop and agency safety requirements, while using prescribed safety measures, equipment, and/or supplies.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Must obtain and maintain required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.
