BLM is seeking a dynamic individual to join the team to serve as a District Manager in the North Central Montana District, located in Lewistown, Montana. Information about the area can be found at Lewistown Chamber of Commerce.
We expect to fill one (1) vacancy at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.
Duties
Leading Change - District vision/strategy integrating National and State program goals and priorities.
Results Driven - Implementing policies and programs of the Department of Interior in public land management.
Leading People and Supervision - Developing and implementing strategies which maximize employee potential and foster high ethical standards.
Building Coalitions / Communication - Establishing and enhancing working relationships and alliances within the District's organizational structure, as well as with others outside of the District Office.
Business Acumen - Acquisition and administration of the human, financial, material, and information resources necessary for the operation of the District.
Requirements

For the GS-14: One year of Specialized Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-13) of the position to be filled. Qualifying specialized experience includes management and leadership experience, preferably in an organization with a focus on multi-disciplinary resource programs on public lands, providing leadership, modification, direction, and decisions required to implement and carry out multiple-use and ecosystem management within an organization containing a variety of resources and through subordinate supervisors.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
Education
There is no substitution of education at the GS-14 grade level.
