The incumbent of this position will serve as a Human Resources Assistant responsible for completeness and legality of the proposed action requests in accordance with established regulations/guides/agency directives; interfaces with human resources (HR) consultants/management, and customers.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service i.e., NU-01 or GS-04. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience applying human resource methods, regulations and principles to provide technical support related to recruitment and placement; use of office automation in performing personnel and/or administrative work to process personnel actions, implement pre-employment processes for incoming employees; respond to customer inquiries, draft and review correspondence and data entry.
Examples of Specialized Experience:
Coding and processing basic personnel actions in an automated system, such as promotions, reassignments and appointments.
Conducting new employee orientation.
General office administrative and clerical procedures.
Input and retrieve data into/from an automated database, including formatting and typing correspondence and other documents used in employee processing.
Answering HR related inquiries; utilizing office automated systems to enter, retrieve and manage data; tracking, coordinating, updating, and maintaining files and records.
Using Word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters.
Verifying information in service records such as date of birth, length of service, awards and dependent statuses are complete and accurate; Making additions, revisions or deletions to records.
Distributing files for forwarding documents electronically to the appropriate personnel.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
Education
4 years above high school or equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grades GS-5 and below.
Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Applicants who have completed part or all of their education outside of the U.S. must have their foreign education evaluated by an accredited organization to ensure that the foreign education is comparable to education received in accredited educational institutions in the U.S. A written evaluation of any foreign education must be provided with your application in response to this vacancy announcement or be received by the closing date of this announcement.
