About the Position: The office is located at A.T. Augusta Army Medical Center (formerly Fort Belvoir Community Hospital) in the Department of Patient Administration.

Duties
Assign codes to all final diagnoses, procedures and operations.
Select procedure related to the principal diagnosis or required for treatment of a complication.
Code complicated medical records that are difficult to classify.
Gather and represent data graphically.
Make a variety of basic statistical computations.
Identify trends and patterns for preparing reports.
Perform qualitative analysis of the records to ensure accuracy, internal consistency, and correlation of recorded data.
Conduct group education briefings on coding.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes translating and coding patient diagnosis/procedures performed with appropriate medical codes; reviewing and analyzing medical records for accurate coding; utilizing medical coding systems such as; Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), Diagnosis Related Group (DRG), Internal Classification of Diseases (ICD-10-CM) for Inpatient Coding (IP) or Inpatient Professional Services Rounds Coding (IPSR) to code medical diagnosis/procedures; and clarifying medical coding discrepancies found with the provider. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
