About the Position: The office is located at A.T. Augusta Army Medical Center (formerly Fort Belvoir Community Hospital) in Patient Administration Division, 1st floor Oaks Pavilion. The work area is an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated cubicle setting.

Duties
Comprehensive review of documentation within the electronic health record.
Ensure documentation is in accordance with current processes and in compliance with applicable Joint Commission (JC), HIPAA, and current regulations regarding medical information management.
Perform qualitative analysis of the records to ensure accuracy, internal consistency, and correlation of recorded data.
Provide advice and documentation education to groups or individual providers.
Utilizes automated Healthcare Systems such as (MHS Genesis, 3M360, computerized data entry and retrieval system) to review documentation and enter diagnoses and procedures.
Clarify and/or correct discrepancies/deficiencies with medical records documentation.
Maintain daily work status reports including completed activities, all metrics, incomplete activities, and the status of any special interest data projects.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying medical record procedures; coding a wide range of diseases/injuries diagnoses using the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10 CM) coding guidelines; coding medical/surgical procedures using the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding guidelines; and spot-checking medical records to ensure consistency, completeness, and/or compliance with applicable standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
