About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide direct support to a four-star unified Combatant Commander, but are compact enough that our staff also works with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service, inter-agency and (public and private) international partner organizations. Duties

Perform as a Watch Officer in the U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) to manage and train the command watch team, bridging higher headquarters and subordinate commands for immediate and planned coordination. Oversee and provide guidance to one officer and three enlisted personnel on duty Joint Operations Center (JOC) watch team members in the performance of the shift's daily duties. Provide training guidance and is the Point of Contact (POC) for USSOUTHCOM's Nuclear Command and Control program. Assist and advise the JOC Watch Captain in the execution of all operational matters and procedures.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Position requires a Security Clearance at the TOP SECRET/Special Sensitive Level as the incumbent will be required to access, process, use, and safeguard classified National Defense information.
• This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Business travel can be anticipated. Travel by military and/or commercial aircraft may be required in attending training, visiting other activities, and/or attending conferences up to 10% of the time.
• Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a current and valid passport.
• This position is subject to uncommon tours of duty and/or shift work. Employee may be recalled to duty with little or no notice.
